MEDIA / SPEAKER

Author/Speaker/Traveller
I have had a wonderful time presenting at literary festivals, TEDx, schools, book clubs and bookshops, and corporate conferences, blending travel tales with my fervent belief that ‘getting away’ offers everyone a vehicle for life-changing rejuvenation. But like my travels, things have not always gone to plan. While being interviewed in prime time on Channel 9, my timeslot got cut short by a dog food commercial. I’d like to think it was very good dog food.
If you’d like me to speak at your event, my core presentation/speaker topics appeal to a range of subjects and attendees and, for now, include the four topics detailed below.

1. My travels; my learnings; my books.
I talk specifically about my books, blending the geographical adventures with my internal personal journeys. Inevitably, I knock out a slide show of images from these trips (max 3 minutes, I promise) and share my writing journey as well. One for book clubs, literary festivals, readers, writers and fellow travellers.
2. The Rejuvenating Power of Time Out: A TEDx talk.
Everyone needs a little escape! In this hilarious and inspiring TEDx talk, I present a new angle on work/life balance, blending entertaining anecdotes from my adventures with specific examples of individuals have deployed ‘time out’ as a high-performance strategy to achieve creativity, innovation, happiness and extraordinary success. For attendees, my talk promises to ignite their own personal quests and goals. For companies, The Power of Time Out offers a dangerously unconventional, but proven strategy, for supercharging careers, creating corporate growth and increasing productivity and profits.

3. The Greatest Travel Tips Ever
Having worked for over a decade in the travel industry, I combine insider insights with the wants and needs of everyday travellers. In this talk, I use music and images, blending hilarious travel anecdotes with awesome tips curated from my own experiences as well a network of travellers, industry experts, and media sources. Whether it be independent, family, or corporate journeys, these tips are applicable to all, and attendees at this #GTTE session will inevitably discover hacks, apps and products to help them save time, money and stress, and have more fun on their journeys. Want to pull more people into your travel event? My talk and storytelling have helped inspire would-be travellers to have a laugh, talk travel, and action their own wanderlust dreams.

4. Road Tales. Writing travel memoirs – an interactive workshop
I have presented my interactive Road Tales memoir writing workshop through the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Writers-in-Residence library series; on a regional city tour with the Queensland Writers Centre, and at select schools. In this workshop, I use books, music, images and memory triggers to help attendees dig into their own wonderful life stories.
